Answers to Common Questions About Wine Canning and Digi Eco Wine Services

Canning Process & Technical

What are the benefits of ordering sample cans?

Canned samples are essential for quality assurance. They allow you to test how your wine performs in its final packaging, are ideal for laboratory testing, and help you get early feedback from distributors or focus groups. They are also vital for testing how your custom digital print design looks on a real aluminum surface before a full production run.

What is the maximum carbonation level your canning system can handle (e.g., for sparkling wine)?

Our counter-pressure canning system is robustly designed to accommodate sparkling wines and carbonated products. Under optimal conditions specifically, ensuring the product is well-chilled (typically between 0°C to 1.5°C) to maintain gas suspension our system can handle high volumes of CO₂ necessary for excellent sparkling wine presentation.

Is there any wine wastage during the canning process?

While our canning process is highly efficient, a small degree of product loss is inherent in any commercial packaging operation due to line clearing and testing. We estimate a minimal operational wastage rate, and we advise clients to account for this when supplying their wine for canning.

What types of wine can you can?

We specialize in wine canning. This includes still wines (red, white, rosé), sparkling wines, and specialized ready-to-drink (RTD) wine blends. If you have a unique product or complexity, we encourage you to contact us to discuss the technical specifications.

Do you have a minimum quantity for canning service?

Yes, our minimum production run is based on volume and efficiency. For full canning services, we typically require a minimum volume. (Note: Please insert your official minimum canning volume here. For can supply, the minimum is one pallet). We also offer sample canning runs for testing purposes.

Quality and Logistics

Why should I can my wine product?

Canning helps you expand existing markets and capture new consumers seeking convenience. Cans are durable, lightweight, cool faster, and block 100% of light, which significantly extends the wine's shelf life. From a logistics viewpoint, they are safer, easier to handle, and cheaper to transport than glass bottles.

How fast can you can my product?

While we strive for speed and flexibility, the timeline depends entirely on our current production schedule and the complexity of your order (e.g., custom printing requirements, technical complexity of the wine). We highly recommend contacting our team as soon as possible to secure a realistic timeline for your specific project.

How do I get my wine to you for canning?

Your wine needs to be delivered to our facility via tank or IBC containers. Upon initiation of your project, our logistics team will provide detailed specifications and coordination for the delivery of your bulk product to our Matosinhos facility in Portugal.

Are cans really better for the environment than bottles?

Yes, significantly. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable without losing quality. It is substantially lighter and more compact than glass, which means it requires less fuel for transportation, leading to a much smaller overall carbon footprint compared to traditional wine bottles.
